The Alley House

The Alley House is a renovation of a 5 story townhouse on New York City’s Upper East Side. The 1915 row house is only 20 feet wide and is home to a multigenerational family of 8. The renovation focuses on bringing natural light into the space and creating dynamic, flexible gathering spaces. The namesake of the Alley House comes from the unique stained glass windows on the alley facade. These work to delineate levels of privacy and individual personalities, which were a priority in the design. Behind the glass reveals personal experiences that extend from the interior to the exterior.
