The Hip Hooray Seat
The Hip Hooray Seat is an activity station built to simplify infant care. The modularity opens up the potential to reach a wider audience of abilities. Rather than purchasing separate products for individualized situations, the seat can be accommodated beyond the typical needs of parents and children by switching out the pieces.
This project started by exploring the needs of a condition called hip dysplasia which affects the formation of the hip socket. Treatment for infants usually entails a brace or a full-body plaster cast typically worn 1 - 12 months. Typical infant products such as high chairs, strollers, and car seats do not accommodate for the added dimensions of a cast or the temporary immobilization of the child. With the right individualized treatment, the majority of infants grow up to be very able-bodied adults whose infancy likely required many creative solutions, sacrifices, time, and care. It is a complicated journey for any parent to go through and this product has the potential to empower them to feel a little bit more included and prepared.
