It's Not That Simple

It’s Not That Simple, is an interdisciplinary approach presenting the interconnectedness of various subject matters through video, sculptural painting, and written work. Two systems of oppression that are often referred to in Elio Garcia’s work are the Prison Industrial Complex and the War on Drugs. Quite literally it is not that simple to capture all of the connections and effects of these systems of oppression without overwhelming oneself or others. He aims to pull together the overwhelming connections and thoughts on these intertwined systems of oppression. Coming from Milwaukee’s Southside these realities have been evident to many throughout Elio’s life.
