Growing up I had a love for fiction and found myself interested in books on adventure, science fiction, and fantasy. During my time at MIAD I discovered a love for typography and hand-rendered type, as well as an interest in book cover illustration. Combining these interests of mine, I decided for my thesis to revisualize historic pieces of fiction and to design and illustrate the cover art for each novel. I chose novels specifically by women writers, as they played an integral, yet understated role in the history of fiction, including creating sub-genres such as science-fiction.
