Pamela Aranda

I'm a multi-disciplinary artist fascinated with abstraction, pattern, collage, and texture. My work takes the forms of immersive installation and fabric art, as my practice shifted to focus on using materials and processes available in my home. My methodology leads to spontaneity as I explore the presence, energy, and vulnerability of fabric. There's a therapeutic quality to the layering, sewing, weaving, and embellishing as I reshape my materials. When installing my work, I take over the place, confounding and collapsing time and space. I intend to pull a viewer in, encouraging them to look at things differently, calling attention to visceral feelings that go unnoticed
